Train Tickets Booking Terms And Conditions

If you continue to use this service, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following specific Terms And Conditions, which together with our general Terms And Conditions and Privacy Policy govern the relationship of Ample Tours with you in relation to this website. If you disagree with any part of these Terms And Conditions, please do not use this service.

Role Of Ample Tours

Sri Lanka railway service is fully state owned and operated by Sri Lankan Railway (SLR). SLR does not offer an online train ticket reservation facility itself. Mobitel company has subcontracted with SLR and offers an online reservation facility. Ample Tours offers “Online Train Tickets Booking Service” as a supplementary service to our clients. Ample Tours does not have any authority over managing/ operating railways and the online reservation system. Therefore, Ample Tours, by offering this service, acts as a third party booking company and makes the reservation on behalf of the client.

Price

All the prices are quoted in USD. Prices quoted are appropriate to the time of quoting and include train ticket cost, Mobitel service charge, local/international call and message charges, local/international courier charges, transaction charges (from Ample Tours), service charge of Ample Tours and all government taxes.

Booking Policy

Ample Tours accepts limited booking requests per train (to maintain a high probability of reserving tickets) and serves tickets on a “first come, first served” basis. Clients can give their booking guidelines at the time they place their booking request and Ample Tours will work accordingly. Accepting a booking request doesn't mean guaranteed train tickets to the client (as SLR opens train ticket reservations 30 days prior to the travel date). At the time of confirming a client's booking request, the client must pay the 100% deposit (non‐refundable) of the quoted ticket price if there is any balance, the balance must be paid after the actual booking has been made. If Ample Tours fails to make the booking, initial advance payment will be fully refunded back to the client.

Cancelation/ Ammendment/ Changes Policy

Before making booking: Upto 40 days prior to the travel date, a client can make changes to his or her personal information (Passport, Email etc), but the client cannot make any amendment or change to the INTENDED DATE OF TRAVEL, TRAIN NO, TIME OF TRAIN and TOTAL NO OF PAX. For any amendment or change to the intended date of travel, train no, time of train and total no of pax, client must proceed with new booking request which is subject to availability and will result in forefeit of deposit paid on initial booking request. It is strongly advised to double‐check the information provided before making a booking request.

After making a booking: Ample Tours acts as a third party booking company. Therefore, we cannot accept cancelation/ amendment/ changes and refund after ticket booking is completed. In such an event, a client must contact/ request direct from the train service provider (Sri Lankan Railway). The initial 100% deposit is non‐refundable in any instance unless a client's booking request is canceled by Ample Tours or fails to make the booking.

Cancelations/ Delays By Sri Lankan Railway (SLR)

Ample Tours acts merely as a third party booking company. This means the contract for delivering the rail transport service is between the client and the supplier of the rail transport service (SLR), and that Ample Tours is not responsible for any delays, cancelations or disruptions to the rail transport service. In such an instance, a client may be entitled to partial compensation or a refund (face value of the ticket) from SLR in accordance with Sri Lankan Railway terms and conditions. Clients must claim a refund at the railway station (SLR does not provide an online refund) or directly contact Sri Lankan Railway.

Ticket Collection

If Ample Tours follow the manual ticket booking, which is the main method (by physically visiting a train station), the printed ticket will be delivered to the client's home country (by air mail) or to the client's preferred hotel (where the client will stay after arrival in Sri Lanka) via local courier service. It is clients' responsibility to provide correct delivery details (address, contact numbers etc). Ample Tours held no responsibility for misplacement of tickets due to providing false delivery details. If tickets are delivered to a local hotel, clients must inform the hotel personnel about the upcoming delivery in advance.

If the booking is made through Mobitel mTicketing, clients can collect tickets either from Mobitel Counter at the Bandaranaike International Airport or any railway station which has ticket printing facilities by producing a reference number (which we provide after making a successful booking) and the passport (which is used to make the booking request). Ample Tours strongly recommend collecting the tickets directly at the railway station.

Board The Train

Ample Tours recommend being presented at the railway station at least 20 minutes before the train's scheduled time. Clients must produce an original copy of the ticket when boarding the train. If a client cannot produce a valid ticket for his or her journey when requested by the ticket inspector/ staff of the railway, the client will have to pay the appropriate fare on the train or have to pay a penalty fare or be reported for prosecution.

Limitations Of Liability

Ample Tours will use reasonable efforts to deliver the train ticket reservation service in accordance with these terms and conditions. All train schedules published on this website are for general information purposes only. Ample Tours uses all reasonable efforts to provide accurate information and keep the information up to date. We make no representations or warranties of any kind, expressed or implied, about completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability. It is strongly recommended to clients to refer Sri Lankan Railway's official website before the travel date regarding train schedules, carriage conditions and general terms and conditions of Sri Lankan Railway.
